San Diego Film Festival inks another award! In addition to the 12 awards SDFF has already earned — including Best Beach Fest, Best Party Fest, Best Regional Film Fest and a coveted spot as one of the country’s Top 10 Film Festival Vacations — SDFF was just selected by MovieMaker Magazine (the nation’s leading magazine on the art and business of making movies) as one of the Top 25 Festivals Worth Your Entry Fee!
And MovieMaker Magazine isn’t the only national media outlet taking notice! SDFF has also recently been recently featured in Star Magazine, GQ and Premiere, in addition to the Independent Film Channel, which showcased the Heineken Red Star Award handed out at SDFF.

If you couldn’t make it to “The Show Must Go On!” - SDFF’s annual Academy Awards viewing party and celebration, here’s what you missed: More than 150 people came to Arterra Lounge at Marriot Del Mar to watch Hollywood’s biggest awards show.
Themed “Jeans and Jewels,” the fashionable crowd sipped on Peroni, snacked on food from Arterra’s award-winning kitchen and won fabulous raffle prizes. Always the hottest Oscar party in San Diego, the event was spotlighted on CitySearch, KUSI TV, NBC TV, Fox TV, North County Times and 944 Magazine.
SDFF is proud announce last year’s official selection Taxi to the Dark Side won Best Documentary Feature at this year’s Academy Awards.
Taxi to the Dark Side joins a long list of films the San Diego Film Festival has screened that have gone on to receive the industry’s highest honor. Here are just a few that are now available on DVD:
- The Queen, Best Feature
- West Bank Story, Best Short Film
- Born Into Brothels, Best Documentary
- Super Size Me, Nominated Best Documentary
- TransAmerica, Nominated Best Feature
